Elevated trops are associated with ESRD because dialysis patients have a high prevalence of heart disease, not because their kidney function is poor.lisajcohenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04239296105462974113noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4230162007222918868.post-88625113126591888352011-05-18T20:06:59.796-04:002011-05-18T20:06:59.796-04:00What about third generation cardiac troponin T ass...What about third generation cardiac troponin T assays as a reliable independent predictor of mortality at all levels of GFR ?Ala Alinoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4230162007222918868.post-90201099482381835132011-05-18T09:57:08.044-04:002011-05-18T09:57:08.044-04:00I find the delta-troponin useful in patients with ...I find the delta-troponin useful in patients with chronically elevated troponins, such as patients with ESRD, as well as patients borderline normal levels but have a high pre-test probability for ischemia or MI. This involves measuring a second troponin about 3 hours after the first draw to see if there is a rise. If the patient is having an acute event that is presumably an NSTEMI, there should be a delta.sthhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08688814826444844255noreply@blogger.com
